Nice haul from Bing! Just wondering why the Papius is fake? It looks good to me, but I am easily fooled.
Very nice haul @Bing coins are the best! Just wish I could get my greedy grubbers on some of those RR and Greeks if his. Here's a couple excellent Gallic coins from the man: AUREOLUS Antoninianus OBVERSE: IMP POSTVMVS AVG, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Postumus right REVERSE: VIRTVS EQVIT, Virtus advancing right, holding transverse spear and shield; T in ex. Great coins. I particularly like the Gordian III; it has such interesting character. Those L. Papius fakes are so dangerous. I'm no expert, but the style looks totally authentic to me. I assume it's a match of one of those on the fakes boards.
Most, if not all, my Greek and RR coins will remain in my collection for a while at least. I have a large collecting focus encompassing Greek, RR and up through mid second century AD. There are some in the later years I will keep, but most I wish to let go to someone who will appreciate them more than me.
I dig that new GIII ex Bing you got there @Yorkshire ! Here is one in my collection from @Bing ! Commodus, As, 181 AD O: M COMMODVS ANTONINVS AVG, laureate head right R: TR P VI IMP IIII COS III P P S C, Commodus driving a quadriga to left Rome mint, RIC 319, 27mm
Those are nice coins, @Yorkshire. In particular the Gordian III – what a fantastic patina! Here is one of my two ex Bing coins: Roman Republic, moneyer: C. Norbanus, AR denarius, 83 BC, Rome mint.
