Picked up this O-113 as an upgrade to my VF-20ish coin. What would you say (all comments welcome) about this half dollar? When ya'll are thru guessing I'll tell you what I put on the flip, ;) The spots on the cheek, hair, and shield are simply Lady Liberties freckles and the surface/skin is intact.

Looks like a solid xf to me. Nice coin!

    I agree. I'll go with EF-40.

I would say VF30 - why do you say vf-20ish? I think the pictures make it look nicer than the. Nice coin by the way.

He said the other coin - the one he is upgrading - is VF-20ish. Not this one. Since he is upgrading that would imply that this coin is a higher grade than VF-20.

upgrade - to replace with a like item of a higher grade

Doh - I need to read better. Thanks Hobo. And I also think the more I look at the coin the more I think it is XF40. I think I was in the sun too long today(gasp) working. I also just turned the lights on in the 'puter room. Sigh.

Nice find, AU-50 or at the least EF-45. rzage It's almost as nice as my '34 BH , which is in a PCGS slab graded AU-53,

Hmmmmm. I would grade the obverse VF30 and the reverse EF45.

I appreciate all the comments. I've apparently lost/misplaced my glasses and am just about "squinted out" on top of everything else...

    LOL :D

Well, after looking at things with a new set of eyes so-to-speak I've come up with a grade of AU-53. This is not an attempt to toot my own BCBHDC horn, but rather based upon an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the series, archaic process, historical times, and material used when this coin was struck. I've seen coins with considerably more wear and lack of detail in higher graded plastic which included PCGS.

The fact this coin is raw and has no damage what-so-ever when looked at various angles with a 10x loupe and the minor wear displayed on the high points leads me to believe it is in the low AU range. This coin would have been dipped and slabbed within six months, I have no doubt, had I not purchased it from a very respected seller on the net.

    AU-53 it is recorded as...

I am going to say XF-45, but I tend to over grade :D

I agree it is a great looking coin. It's tough to find an undamaged original CBH in any condition. Well, in my case it's impossible.
