Pictorial love tokens seem to be rare on gold host coins. This is the only gold pictorial I can recall seeing, at any rate. The engraving is unsophisticated but not without a certain folksy charm. Given the "hatching chick" motif, I'd say this was almost certainly given as a christening token. It is definitely unusual and literally unique.
