Thought that you'd like to see what 100 kilos of gold looks like.

Exhibit at the 2007 Summer ANA in Milwaukee.

I believe it was for sale, and nobody bought it. Can't remember where I read the article...maybe Coin World.

Yeah, there is a little problem with getting that thing stuffed in a vault that most people do not have. I wouldn't mind owning a kilogramme coin sometime, but they are priced way above melt.

it was.. i do believe they had plans to make like 10 or so ...

and just because they are for sale... doesnt mean i could ever buy one lol it still wouldnt be able to buy one :) it takes more then the option to buy to be able to buy :D

You'd have to scrape a little off the edge each month to pay for the storage costs...

If I am not mistaken...the coin was shipped to Tele-Trade and put up for auction...did not sell there either!

Which implies that the RCM made a mistake in making this if they cannot sell it to some rich Chinese industrialists.

Actually, have you ever thought how heavy the dies would be, even more so the equipments that were used to strike these coins?

Which no doubt factored into the cost. There are no economies of scale involved when you strike only 10 coins.

If Queen Elizabeth's husband was still alive and they produced a similar coin with his' bust on it and they were mated in the melting pot, just how many little ones they could produce!!!??? One Troy ounce little ones that is!:eek:hya:
