1924 rotated reverse Peace dollar

    I recently picked up a 1924 Peace dollar with the reverse rotated about 45 degrees at a show. Since I'd never seen one before, I checked VAM when I got home and 1924 is not listed among the dates with die rotation. Shortly after, another collector told me that he has a similar coin which is counterfeit and is of the opinion that there are a "bunch" of similar counterfeits around. The weight of my coin is correct. I am not very familiar with this series and was wondering if anyone else had seen a similar coin? Or knows about these counterfeits? Thanks

    A die rotation is an error, a VAM is a variety.

    The rotation is worth a premium, good catch!!:thumb:

    What I meant by checking VAM is that I checked their encyclopedia. It does contain a short list of known rotations, although I'm sure more have been uncovered since it was printed. I'm sorry for not being more clear. Thanks for the response.
