The Tercentenary of the Bank of England 1994 Two Pound Coin This one isn't mine...but I couldn't be bothered to take a picture of mine and stick it on the net. (also mine isn't gold) I love the Britannia portrait in the middle...also the Font. A very English Coin.
Its always the newest coin I have gotten....but right now it would either a Boone Comm...or a 1921 Buff Nickel in XF. Speedy
eddyk, that is quite an attractive coin. I think my most attractive ones are my proof silver eagles, and my 1899-O Morgan dollar in MS-65.
My style of collecting is to collect the most interesting or beautiful I can find. A silver Nazi coin minted between the years of 1939-1945 might not look stunning but it's very interesting. A gold Philharmonic from Austria doesn't really have any history behind it....but it looks stunning. Current beautiful coins on my list to get are.... A Texas and Oregon Commem half Dollar. A gothic Florin A 2003 Proof Britannia But these all run in excess of $100 each. My question....what beautiful coins do you know of which don't come with a large price tag? From all over the world this is.
Tough choice, and you know some of us won't be able to choose, myself included. (Also, I love that 2003 Britannia, eddyk! Those Britannias certainly have the best designs of all modern coinage.) I'll be back to this thread again when I get better scans - you just can't appreciate ugly images!
eddyk... my current want list is: Oregan Half Gothic Florin King George III Half Crown/Shilling (bulldog portrait) Any Britannia proof (preferably 1997) You sound like competition!! I did get my hands on a VERY nice looking coin a few weeks back for less than $25... an Italian 2 Lira coin with the 4 horses shown below... my new favorite Picture is a bit grainy, its not the coin's fault...
"To me" this is the best looking coin I've got, an 1832 Half Dime, AU-53. While it's not the largest or best condition Bust Coin in my collection it's special and was listed in the JRCS Population Report for Capped Bust Half Dimes.
A coin that caused much grief for me whence it was purchased(didn't have permission from my Master) and spent a month in the doghouse for it: So then I agreed to sell it later. But so far later hasn't come and it has been a couple of years. But it has cost me...jewellery, trips, dinner etc.
My mistake, it is a godless florin I want, not a gothic. Look at it... The italian 2 lira is amazing.
It's a hard question but my 1917-P Type 1 , standing liberty quarter. 1917-P's usually come with the best full head strikes of any SLQ. rzage
WOW! I hope you get your hands on one! I beleive that Victoria's portrait on both the godless and gothic are the same... I would love any (esp a prooflike one u show) Besides being a lovely coin, I hope to collect the various portraits of Victoria... The 1832 10c and 1799 coins are also awesome!
Absolutely some fantastic coins here. My most valuable and most thought of coin is the one I use to buy something. I like coin collecting but I like spending money more.
