    Here's some more 1935 SC's in lower quality, plus a 1963 non-SC.

I'd say the 1935's are FINE to VERY FINE -- agreed ?

    The 1963 looks like it's a 63 ?

Here are some 1963 $5 U.S. Notes with Red Seals.

The bills were a bit "wavy" but I don't think they would count as a crease or fold (?). So if they got graded, they'd probably "straighten out"...so I'm gonna say these probably grade 63.

Is it just me...or does it seem that some of the stuff on Ebay and/or HA are "whiter" in the pictures than the actual bills when they show up ?

If they are manipulating color or brightness, wouldn't that be fraud just like cropping off dull edges ? :wideyed:

A natural paper wave is OK but I definitely see folds in both the center and lower notes. Use some side lighting and the folds will stand out like a sore thumb.

Yeah, you are right....when I was holding them closely under the light for the pics I saw it, too.

    A crease < fold, right ?

What grade would you give those notes, JS ?

XF - AU. It’s virtually impossible to accurately grade notes from photos, especially flat photos.

Gotcha....a ballpark figure from hi-def pics should allow one to get within 3-5 grades I think. It's not like pics from 20+ years ago at least, where you could only detect major defects ! :D

Besides the 4 corners, borders/margins, and abscense of any wear & tear or folds/creases and good ink print...what would you be looking for that the pics might not be able to tell you ?

P.S....I'll post more pics later today/tonight of the 1st Tier stuff.

This note looks CH-CU from a flat photo.

Same note with side lighting. Even with side lighting you are unable to detect pinholes...

Wow, that's unreal :wideyed:....can't believe it's the same bill !!

If you look at the other SC's I posted above, those are also flat photos and you can clearly see the 1930's SC's which look like VF-XF compared to a more pristine 1963.

I look for mismatched serial numbers on silver certificates.

In Gem Quality, that mismatch can lead to a 5-10x increase in the price of the SC, right ?

Saw 1 or 2 on Heritage and I believe they went for some nice change.

Much higher than that. Check historical sales prices. Doesn't have to be pristine to have a value if you find one.

I saw one go the other day, the 1st digit was off meaning a big numerical difference. Will check later and see what it went for.

Here's 4 sequential 1957B's....should grade at least 63's, maybe a few points higher ? No wrinkles, no folds, 4 razor sharp corners (I'll probably move them to individual holders when I get more).

Not sure it pays to grade them. o_O

Nice notes. I would not take on the additional costs to have them graded. Just too common. Plenty of consecutive SC’s live in my collection in plain Mylar sleeves.

Yes, JS, very nice notes. :D

Agree on grading them. You need at least 2 additional factors when dealing with common bills to justify grading fees (i.e., low or unique serial number, super high quality, etc.).
