Hello, newby here. I recently bought a 7 b.c. Augustus as minted by Otho. I wanted to know if anyone sees anything fishy about it because there seems to be pits and black marks on the coins. Thank you and make sure to post some of you Augustus coins!
Looks okay to me. Here are mine that are in a similar state (off center, areas of flatness, worn in places, etc): Augustus, Ruled 27 BC – 14 AD AE As, Rome Mint Issued 7 BC by Publius Lurius Agrippa, triumvir monetalis Obverse: CAESAR•AVGVST•PONT•MAX TRIBVNIC POT; bare head of Augustus to right. Reverse: P•LVRIVS•AGRIPPA•IIIVIR•A•A•A•F•F•, Legend surrounding large S•C. References: Sear 1686, RIC 427 Size: 29mm, 9.28g Augustus, Ruled 27 BC – 14 AD AE As, Issued 15 BC by Cn. Piso, moneyer. Rome Mint Obverse: CAESAR•AVGVSTVS TRIBVNIC•POTEST•, bare head right. Reverse: CN•PISO•CN•F•IIIVIR•A•A•A•F•F•, legend surrounding large S•C. References: RIC 382, Sear 1681 Size: 28mm, 10.69g
I have to say that these two photos in particular were taken by @Severus Alexander when the coins were up for auction in AMCC Auction 1. He takes much better photos than I. These are my photos of the two coins:

Welcome aboard, and congratulations on scoring a nice coin. Since you're new to the hobby, I should point out that the Otho who minted your coin is not the same Otho who was declared emperor during the civil war of A.D. 69. I assume he was a descendant, though. Does anyone know for sure? Grandson, perhaps?
