The listing is no longer available and I paid $142.50 for it but do not know if it's a "too good to be true" price. I just outbid everyone else because I want one of these and since it isn't a true 1793 coin (made around 1820/30) I figured it was close to the going price on Ebay.

    Ribbit :)

Ps: Should I wait for the seller to contact me before shipping it back to him?

Pps: It was an Ebay item "somewhat" bought on the side, as you put it (long story).

Ppps: I found the link to the auction:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330222601463&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123

Pppps: Hey Jack, I found this kewl Lincoln cent in my pocket change the other day and the mint mark (D) has "sunk" back into the coin and it looks like Abe was shot in the right temple (all occurring from within the coin). Ever hear of a mint mark sinking/disappearing back into the coin (zinc penny)?

Wow, you have some issues here that are not in your favor. I wish you the best of luck my friend, but diving in like that, man, I just dont know.

Even if the coin is fake, your feedback vs the sellers in a side transaction is going to hurt you some. Were you NARU'd mid transaction?

The seller is a long standing member with some real questionable stuff, yet with pretty decent feedback. This is a tough one.

You Lincoln sounds like it could be a plating issue, post a pic in the error section, those guys are real sharp on that stuff.

Yes! You turned my long story into a short one. :D

    Ribbit :)

Ps: I will photograph the Lincoln tomorrow and post it. :thumb:

Here are some pics of the edge (looks like two halves joined together to make a whole coin then electroplated) and one obverse shot to show the casting flaws (I also added a pic of the Lincoln Assassination Penny):

Here are a few more of their coins (click to enlarge to see the problems):

Not everything sold was questionable and the above items look interesting how they all are very grainy and you can even see a seam in the edge on one of them and they all have that "look" someone referred to about mine (coloring).

    Ribbit :)

The seller claims to have purchased it from a dealer years ago, which my be true, considering the story about the coin dealer recently in Florida. I sent the pictures to them and we now have "open" dialouge in the PayPal Dispute thingamajigger. I'll keep this thread updated as this progresses.

    Ribbit :)

Ps: The seller wants me to get a second opinion on authenticity. Anyone here have an opinion they want to second? :D

Pps: If anyone wants to take the time to look over the other coins I listed and offer up an opinion as to their authenticity, I'd be interested in hearing your opinion. :thumb: If others are questionable then ignorance may not be to blame here or they may have been sold quite a few counterfeits by that coin dealer/charlatan. Either way, if there are other counterfeits, it will boltster my claim.
