This is, in my opinion, an attractive raw large cent that shouldn't break the bank, and which would look dandy in your 7070 album. Nice surfaces overall, with some subtle contrast between the light brown color and darker brown fields. There is a small patch of some apparent surface deposits noted around Star #5. I have not yet examined them under a loupe, but I think they're probably just a faint touch of 170-year-old grime. Note there's also a little bit of dirt in the date numerals. So I think that's all that is, but you do have a full return privilege if you're not happy with in hand. I think you will be. I can't swear that the color is 100% original, but it looks all right to me. Perhaps a little darker in hand, if I remember correctly. My impression, in the brief glimpse I took before it went into my safe deposit box, was that it's a handsome coin for the money. *** SOLD *** Numismedia trends show a recent uptick in XF40 price, listing it at $94 in that grade. (It trends $51 in VF20, if you're of a more conservative opinion. I personally think it's better than a 20.) PP F&F preferred. Free shipping, as mentioned. More and slightly bigger pictures here. (Give that link a couple of seconds to load.) Psst! @CircCam- whaddya think? I'd call it a copper CircCam. .
