Always try and post both sides of your coins. Zoom in with clear pictures of the problem areas in question.
He can't show the other side of the coin because it's ... HALF of a cent. pretty cool looking double struck.
Okay, I'm confused. Doubled struck or doubled die? Isn't doubled struck something to do with two different denomination?
What's confusing. It was struck once and instead of the coin being ejected properly it stayed in the chamber and was struck a second time. That has nothing to do with a doubled die variety issue. Got it?
Thanks. I somehow found this definition somewhere: What is a double struck coin? A double denomination coin is one that has been struck twice between different denomination dies such as once between nickel dies and again between quarter dies. The term is sometimes used to refer to a coin struck on the wrong planchet.
What year is this anyways (picture of the obverse ?) .. I think it is at most an 1808 due to the "1/200" design element. With the 1811 (private) restrike being the exception.
It is two different things Double Struck is the same coin that was struck twice Double Denomination is a coin that was struck with dies intended for another denomination Such as - Cent struck on dime
This defination describes a double denomination, not a double strike. A double denomination has been struck twice on different dies. A double struck has been struck twice on the same die. A doubled die is a variety and more than one example will exist.
