Here is a 1909S Filipinas One Peso that I discovered in a pile of misc silver coins I squirreled away years ago. I really like the eagle and shield on the reverse. 1909 Filipinas One Peso - Obv.JPG 1909 Filipinas One Peso - Rev.JPG

As @NovembersDoom6 indicated, the slight difference in color in George's hair is a symptom of very light rub, particularly on the '44 shilling. So I'd say AU is accurate. You have both the English and Scottish reverses represented there. They look like nice coins.

I encountered a 1941 Scottish reverse shilling on one of my metal detecting adventures (not to mention a scaly, legless critter). And not on my England dig trip, either, but here in SE Georgia. It must have come across the pond as a WW2 serviceman's souvenir.

Thanks for those who are sharing gifts.

Here's a coin I was considering purchasing, but ultimately decided not to buy. The price wasn't bad, and the history is really cool, but I want something with a little better strike, even if it's circulated.

I like it. I don't think the strike is all that bad, for a mid-16th century hammered coin. Neat design and portrait. Dated. Cool. Now find one where the king' s facial features are a bit more defined, maybe.

    I guess I will go in this order, if I win something. 9, 2, 11, 7, 1, 6, 10, 4, 8, 5, 3, 12.

I am now looking through nickels at times for CRH, looking maybe to spot a Henning nickel. That would be something to find one!!! The 1944 ones should be easy enough, as they don't have the large P mintmark on it. Here is one of the diagnostics (from a 1944 one, not mine) that also shows that some Henning nickels have a funky R in Pluribus on the reverse:

    Entry post. Heck, all these prizes are interesting and who wouldn't want one? I could almost use a random number generator for my picks, but, because I don't have one: 1, 5, 8, 4, 3, 7, 10, 2, 9, 6, 11, 12.

Today we visited the National Cathedral in D.C. (the Behind the Scenes tour; well worth the money). I didn't expect to see anything numismatically-related, but here's a photo of one of the clerestory windows with Judas and his spilled silver coins:

A taco? That rather stretches the definition of "coin related" content. ;)

But it's amusing. Reminds me of things my daughter once loved but is too old for now. *sigh*

That is now gonna be stuck in my head all night long...

Gentle reminder: entries that do not meet all three of the requirements in the introduction will get skipped.

We don't do quiz questions or make y'all work too hard. But there's a little bit of reading and those three simple rules.

One person last month had their number come up, but whoops- incomplete entry post. So sorry- you got skipped and never knew it.

And another month two people lost their chance due to incomplete entries.

This just made me reread the rules. I hope(Since I didn't post anything really coin related) I am covered.

You're covered. Hope you don't mind that I used mod powers to add a note to myself in your entry post so I would remember to count it as valid if your number comes up. It was a nice post, despite the lack of coin-related content. :)

If anybody else wants to fix an incomplete entry, just let me know.

Rule #2 (the "coin-related content" thing) is actually to comply with CoinTalk rules. In my early days here, I actually had some of my contests on this forum removed because they lacked coin-related content! Just ask Doug!

Rule #3 (the prize preference list) is just to help ensure everybody gets the best chance of receiving the prize they want. And it keeps us from having to wait around after the drawings while I contact you to find out what your choice is. It's all about the flow.

Rules 2 and 3 do mostly tend to filter out the lazier folks who just comply with Rule #1 and post those two "entry post" words, and then vanish without so much as a thank you or further word, not bothering to see what's going on.

We just want a little bit of content here, you see. Doesn't matter what it is, as long as there is a coin-related tie-in, no matter how offbeat or small.

Take @Stevearino's post about the stained glass windows, for example. It's only marginally coin-related, but it works fine. Just a little something interesting. Simple but effective. Loosely coin-related.

And once those three simple requirements are met, then by all means, post cat pictures or tacos or anything else you like (as long as it's clean and abides by the general forum rules, of course). :)

The lazier folks won't even be reading this, so the rest of y'all who are will be OK. Just let me know if you forgot one of the requirements, and we can fix you so you're "legal".

(I know I'm longwinded and reading big walls of text can be tiresome. Sorry. Fact is, I'm a lazy reader myself sometimes, when the shoe is on the other foot. Hope this is still fun and not too much like school.)

Sticks in yer brain, doesn't it? Catchy.

Like one of Parry Gripp's other greatest hits.

(You've gotta love how they included the lyrics in the video for this classic.) :hilarious::cat:

Side note #1: aren't that cat's human-like teeth creepy? Brrr! Nightmare fuel. :nailbiting:

Side note #2: there's a taco in this one too, if you can hang on long enough...
