Dumb, considering that the only bidders with decent feedback were left in the dust under $20 it appears to just be dumb.
The seller is doing pretty good considering that's the only coin he's selling. With that kind of money he can buy ten more. I sold one nice '09 VDB just like it to a dealer for $9.00.
The highest "bidder" has bid 15 times on this one auction... either he's a shill or completely clueless.
The "VDB" catches their attention, and they forget that the "S" isn't included. Failure to engage brain.
It is the beginning of Lincoln Madness. Seriously, so called unsearched 5000 count bags are selling for way more than they did a year ago. It is only the beginning. Wait until the press kicks in and the marketing for 2009 Lincoln cents gets going.
GEE you all missed his statement that this a KEY DATE. 24 biders so far? Sounds like he has a few ringers in there. Remember there are some people, not common, that have someone continue to bid to raise the prices. If they end up winning, for some reason, they just put it back up for auction at a later date. This falls into the faked feedbacks that people have others send in for them. When dealing with ebay or any auction place, be carefull. There actually could be a dishonest person out there.
Man, wish I could get that for mine, geez. Some of the Lincoln's I feel will stay strong after 2009, but the VDB is going to drop drastically when people try to sell them in the sets. (supply will meet the demand, and you get the picture.) This is JMO. Phoenix
Supply will meet demand? Actually, I am not sure about that. Wait until the mass marketers get going. I'm saving my 3/4 roll of VDB to sell to the home shopping network
I think it's insanity and I'm not going to buy one yet. Every time I get caught up in any craze with the rest of the herd, I end up losing. I'll wait this one out and see what happens. Want one, but it's going to be 30 dollars or less.
I tend to think you are both right on this one. Was discussing it with the owner of the coin shop yesterday actually. Companies like Littleton etc. will be buying 09, 09 VDB and 09 INDIANS like crazy. All for marketing in cheesy holders and believe me they tend to pay strong for problem free, circulated coins. Demand will go up while supply remains the same. Hence higher prices. As for "quality" coins they should go up as well but have a better chance of staying there IMHO. Those go to serious collectors. Decent circulated examples will start to trickle in again as people realize it's not a huge deal, need the money etc. They will be disappointed as well when they see what dealers will pay. Then you may start seeing prices drop for many dates. I 'm figuring at least a few years though.
