1988 p penny has extra metal in bay 3. Can you help me identify the error?

    Sorry if this is a common one, but I haven’t found any info anywhere else and I haven’t found the error on any other 1988’s I’ve checked.

    Also, the roof bit in bay 4 is also slanted slightly at approximately the same angle as the extra metal in bay 3.

    Looks to me like plating blisters but I see no error.

    +1 for plating blister. There is a bump on the pillar also that tells there was/is a defect in the planchet.
