Alex, I'm sincerely trying to help you and not mislead you. But Since you keep calling us unnecessary names and keep shooting us down it's really hard to share my truthful knowledge with you. I don't consider myself a error expert but a specialist. Like I stated I have been collecting and attributing mint errors for 34 years now. One quick look at your cent and it is obvious that it is post mint damage. So sad that you won't believe any the other fine specialist here on CoinTalk. Good luck with your coin and I wish you the best in dealing with your son.

I suggest @Alex Stevens send this coin in for grading, then he can post the results. Sometimes people have to learn the hard way. Then he can come back and apologize to the "glorified collectors". I think Alex needs to tone down the arrogance a bit. Quite a bit, actually.

 

The OP coin was not struck more than once.
While that does happen (rarely) there will be 2 discernible images from both strikes.
Also that type of error is often faked, so you really need to be able to tell the difference. When an amateur fakes a double strike, the letters/numbers will be reversed on the second "strike". (Vise job.)

Send it to Variety Vista and have it attributed, I believe the cost is around $4 then post it again and prove everybody wrong, it is well worth the price.

Actually this is honestly my first time ever being on this site. The Penny is gonna have to wait. I will have to purchase membership at PCGS so I can submit it. Until then it's going in a jar.
Not that anyone cares, but the 1943 "Steelie" was counterfeited a lot I read. The originals were zinc coated am I correct? So if it has those bubbles on the surface can I rest assure it is an original and not one of the stripped and recoated coins?

 

I do apologise actually regardless of the damn penny. I was was just falling to the levels of a certain few that were being quite harsh o er something so petty.

 

Wow that was a great read thank you I appreciate you being so patient with me. I believe the 1982 DD penny was not so obvious as the one you have here. I will have to find that again and get the link for you. I believe it said the reverse was paired with another die. Oh so it was a cent die just paired with the wrong reverse. That makes more sense.
