My 1979 rim turns into a loop?

Discussion in 'Coin Chat' started by Jessica L McClellan, Sep 4, 2019.

  1. My penny rim goes down the left side and flips into a loop at bottom. Why is this? kinda looks like doubling by the bow tie to? IMG_20190901_212518.jpg

I see it, but not being an expert on errors, I can't explain it precisely.

It may be that the coin moved within the collar as it was struck.

    I'm a specialist not an expert ;)

Looks to be a Misaligned Die Strike which affected the rim. Sort of like a high pressure strike to the area in question. Nothing major.

No doubling of anything that I can see.. I'm not a variety specialist and neither is Fred.

I stand corrected, Senor, though as compared to myself, you are a specialist and an expert.
That's why I tend to holler your name first when it comes to errors.

    Thanks for the info.
