1980 GB crown. Love those crowns, even if they are no longer made of silver.

 

Obviously, I'm going to have to play off Britain. I got nothing for 1697! However, precisely three hundred years later we have this here one farthing graced with Victoria, British Queen, Defender of the Faith, and Empress of India!

Time to move on! Off to Mexico! You know, I frequently think Mexico makes some of the most beautiful or interesting coins.

Playing off 1981, we have here a 1981 five-pesos (KM 485).

 

1981 Algeria 10 Dinars. This is a big, beautiful coin. 29.3 mm, aluminum-bronze.

It's always a lovely stroll (ducking and dodgeing?) from Israel to Syria! Syria! One of the hot spots of modern day tourism! A 1979 fifty-qirsh piece (KM 119).

1981 Israel 1/2 shequel. I have a coin collector buddy in Israel, so now I have LOTS of neat Israeli coins. He now has LOTS of neat Thai coins. A good deal for both of us.
