So, I came upon an interesting find. Apparently, back in the 90's, there was a company called "Alan Shawn Feinstein Associates" that pretty much was scamming people into buying foreign currency. I'm not quite sure if it was for the actual numismatic value of the Currency, or for the exchange rate. See the attached letter, and I'll list the years of the bills below. I was wanting to sell them on EBay. Think it is best to sell them as a Set with the Letter Included, or just separately???? Help is appreciated! The Uncirculated Notes are: 1971 - Portugal - 50 Escudos 1971 - Portugal - 100 Escudos 1972 - Mozambique - 1000 Escudos 1985 - Suriname - 100 Gulden 1982 - Suriname - 500 Gulden 1963 - Suriname - 1000 Gulden 1962 (4th Series) - Great Britain Armed Forces - 1 Shilling 1956 (3rd Series) - Great Britain Armed Forces - 10 Shillings
Feinstein was also responsible and made a lot of money for hyping the face on the moon thingy, whatever it was. I remember seeing his ads and getting unsolicited mail from him way back in the day. As to weather or not to sell and what to charge, I am wishing you the best of luck as I have no idea. I'm thinking the letter may actually crush any sale on this as he was eventually exposed as being a shyster.
Looking at what similar bills have sold for separately on EBay, I come up with starting them at about $40-$50...
I'd include the letter as doing so will help to provide context. I'd personally be open to paying a bit more with the letter than without.
It was the face on Mars stamps from Sierra Leone. Feinstein was known for hawking all kinds of collectibles.
Yes, quite correct. That was a very long time ago. Dead memory cells and loss of hair not protecting my brain. Thanks for the correction.
I found some of the face on Mars stamps in my deceased father in law's possessions. Are they worth anything at all?
Seems like this company was the equivalent of Littleton Coin in it’s time. $325 (USD)? For a Suriname 500 Gulden?!
I have found 5 boxes of first annual baseball hall of fame hero's. The boxes are still sealed in cellophane. Are they worth anything? kathetaxes@gmail.com
I just looked in my safe and have all the same Stuff. Wish I could just get my money back Let me know if anything is worth anything. brad edited
