The ancient coins I got at today's show, the Trajan and the Miletos pieces are particularly nice: Carus AE – antoninianus, 21mm Rome, 282-283 AD Radiate, cuirassed bust r. IMP CARVS PF AVG Jupiter standing l., holding Victory and scepter IOVI VICTORI KAB in ex. RIC Vb Rome 39 Miletos, Ionia AR – 1/12th stater, 9.5mm c. 525 BC lion foreparts r. star in incuse pattern Sear 3523 Volusian AE – sestertius, 29mm Rome, 251-253 AD Laureate, draped bust r. IMP CAE C VIB VOLUSIANO AVG Concordia standing l., holding cornucopia and patera CONCORDIA AVGG RIC 249a Trajan AR – denarius, 20mm Rome, 115 AD Laureate bust r., drapery on far shoulder IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS VI P P Trajan’s column with two eagles at base SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI RIC 293
Love them all but the second one is my favorite. Isn't it similar to the Lydian Trite which was the worlds first coin i think?
