1936 Mercury Dime, marked “copy”

    Found this in my pocket the other day, noticed the back was marked “COPY” what is that?

    It's a fake, and by US law, it must be marked "COPY" to be sold legally.

    It's exactly what is says it is, a copy of a mercury dime. Not a real coin.

    It is a poorly executed copy of a Mercury dime. Play money, really. Somebody dropped it into circulation and got away with it.

    It does not even need the word COPY on it.. it is one of the worst fakes I have ever seen.

    Reminds me of a Royal Oak Mint replica. It may be plated rather than solid silver. But, for 10 cents, who cares?
