I was just scanning eBay tonight and stumbled across this auction. A couple of things jumped out at me, and I wonder if they do to you as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/1971-P-Eisenhow...ryZ11981QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I mean when an average (we'll call it high-end AU at best) coin is offered as an "estate gem - PQ!!" I can take it in stride. When in the description it says that the collection it came from was bought in an estate, I start to get leery. When he then claims that the collection he is told is potentially valued at $1 million, I laugh and think... yeah potentially so is mine... lmao. He doesn't say he thinks it is, just that he has been told this. He goes on to say that he's "not claiming that the coin is MS-66 but it is very nice", I chuckle because the next sentence is a word of warning that you should check out the coin and grade it for yourself. Sage advice. Incredible actually that he says something that you can take to the bank and use, until the very next sentence when he says "I am not an expert in this area and cannot guarantee any specific grade." This all seems VERY typical of eBay and I dismiss it like many of the other (alleged) frauds that peddle this crap, but then I look at this "no coin expert's" eBay id and almost fell off the chair laughing.... I need to get some ice... I'll be back
Well, the winning bidder did get it for less than face ($0.79), so other than the $2 shipping charge, he got a deal.
You missed this one. "1924-S Peace Silver $ - Rare - High Value - GEM BU !" Yet the description says: "This coin has some graffiti on the obverse and reverse. Unc. detail, guaranteed authentic! " Gem BU with graffiti! Unusual to say the least. http://cgi.ebay.com/1924-S-Peace-Si...ryZ11980QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
that's $4.90 for FIRST CLASS MAIL!!! Anyone have a 41¢ stamp??? I thought overcharging for shipping was not allowed anymore?
Take it easy on the guy. The collection could be worth millions. Perhaps the original owner hoarded millions of circulated Ikes. clembo
The only things I see unusual are the way someone paid $0.79 for a coin with a face value of $1 and then they paid $4.90 for a 41 cent stamp and an envelope
Ouch ! It's not Gem... It's not B... It's not U... Three strikes ! This dude has STRUCK OUT :headbang:
