While she does appear to have some rim damage and some marks in the fields this coin is on the verge of being classified as an R6/7 coin. The current Rarity Rating is only R2 (not sure why). 1828, O-107a; die cracks in date. Take Care Ben
Thanks, Ben. Also, it must be scarce I also don't have it (LOL) in my vast collection of Busties. Congrats on the find.
UPDATE: The coin is infact considered an R-7 with (Now 10) known specimens with only six having been sold at auction since 2000. Ben
"Condition" No, not at all. I took a shot/gamble and the actual winning bid was $58 and when the coin arrived I realized it had paid off. Not always though. One of the flippin' (LOL) reasons I have so darn many 1827s... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170212003659 I think if the pictures would have been larger it would have been snatched up at a much greater price and I wouldn't have had it. My MAX bid was only $60.01...
Great grab Boner! :thumb: What's the best variety book for these? I've got one and looking to increase the population, so I'm going to need a good book to look-up varieties so I can possibly grab a good one like you did. :hail: Ribbit Ps: The one I have is a 1831 and it has some interesting things "going on" in the 50 C. area.
That's cutting it close. He even described the die cracks. Lucky for you his grammer was bad and people probably were distracted.
Not a clue now, none have come up for auction recently. Here is some documentation which might be of some assistance. the R-2 rarity rating which was arbitrarily given the O-107A in relation to the O-107 will be changed when the BHNC does their final member population review I understand. Every member I've spoken with all agree that R-7 is probably what it will be designated.
