New Obsolete...well sorta new, just never posted it until today.

$100 Virginia Treasury Note in CU....nice Obsolete that has been laying in the collection for sometime now...a reproduction surfaced today on the fourm and I realized I had this note so...here it is...

Very nice looking note! How many people today would recognize what the "C" stood for if it was put on today's Benjamins???

 

I've seen pictures from the 19th century and I didn't think they knew what color was back then!!.

Seriously, that's one nice looking piece of american history. I forget, but didn't you have a link to a gallery with your notes online??

I have my view setup to not show signatures. I had to log out to see the link.

 

not see sigs?? thats one of the best parts of the forum.. see what folks have well, IMHO

that is a cool note RickieB ... but do i see a couple corner folds

 

Thanks Daggarjon....your right! This note was not cut to well at all..and the upper right and lower left is a we bit rounded and slight folds..but over all a fairly nice note...kind of pricy too...

Not that anyone would want to, but could you, if you live in Virginia, use this note to pay your taxes? It does say "recievable for payment in taxes" and all...

 

Nope....hence the name "Obsolete" Notes This was issued back in the days gone by.....
