Hi, I just bought a lot of about 14 coins that were all errors. I found all the errors on the pennies, but can someone help me with this one? thanks in advance, stainless And hers a close up:
From those pictures, there is no error. We will need a loupe picture to tell if there is actually an error there. Does it say anywhere what type of error that coin is supposed to have?
The '63 DDO is a Doubled Die Obverse (DDO). This is doubling that is on the die itself so every coin made from the die will show doubling. If you look at the obverse under magnification you should see be able to see the doubling. (This type of doubling is usually more pronounced closer to the rims. Look in the lettering and date.) I would call a DDO a variety rather than an error but that is a matter of semantics.
stainless, The coin is the same Variety listed with Coneca as DDO-003 (PR-3-O-II-E) which exhibits light doubling on IN GOD WE TRUST and much more noticable doubling on the Designer's Initials! Frank
