    Howdy fellow coin peeps, :thumb:

Presented for discussion is an interesting coin/token that appears to depict a marriage ceremony. I'm hoping someone here can let me/us know what this is, where it originates from, and hopefully a date of origin because I am totally clueless about this coin/token. :headbang:

i can't be sure but to me that looks like a spanish mssion in the background on the right hand side. I'm looking to see if i can find anything on spanish mission marriage tokens or coins. have any idea what the writing on the left is in?

Ok what i can find is that it is tradition in a Spanish wedding for the groom to give the bride 13 gold coins before the wedding. Best i can think is this is one of those not sure of a date or anything but that really does look like a Spanish mission with the cross on it in the right hand picture. Hope this helps.

I agree with the Mission/Church but the writing is not Spanish so the writing should place this coin better (I would think). The writing appears to be a form of Arabic/Hebrew so maybe someone will hop in here who reads/speaks the language of the writing and then we will have origin figured out. :hail:

I actually like the coin and would like to understand the exact meaning/purpose of it.

Nope this is NOT Hebrew, trust me. It isn't, not even as script.

Besides, who would write in Hebew with a cross on the other side?

The 'writing' under the clapsed hands looks more like a decorative element.

I have this old Mexican wedding token from 1954:

The writing below the hands looks vaguely Arabic. My guess is a Christian marriage token from somewhere in the area between the Black Sea, Caspian Sea, and Tigris River valley.

The one in the OP isn't listed on that site but it does look similar to several. They didn't cover a lot of areas so maybe they will someday. :thumb:
