Thanks all for the well wishes. We'll be staying in place for now. Alice is not up to moving around unless it's vital for our well-being. We'll know more come Sunday-Monday. I hope everyone else has taken precautions or plan to in the next couple of days.

Oh, forgot to mention I have a couple of really nice coins in the mail. I just hope they don't get blown away, heh?

Wow, how much they weigh? Good gosh, I have no clue what I own let alone weight. I think my Thai coins alone are about 25 pounds. I just got 8 more in Chieng Mai, and one was over 350 grams itself. I keep threatening trying to put them on a spreadsheet but I am kidding myself.

Then, what do you consider coins? Bulk silver? World coins I have maybe 100 kilos of? Chinese cash? Or simply "better" ancients?

Eh, I will just wallow, lying to myself I will someday go through them all and categorize them. You are right I am all over the board Doug, with today buying a 1907 St Gaudens just because, previous purchases 8 medieval Thai coins, before that a group of middle Roman bronzes, and before that Sassanid and Arab Sassanian issues and some Kushan gold. Yeah, not specialized, but I love all of my babies. :)

Unfortunately, I am not as good a Daddy as you are. Once they go into the SDB, most do not come out and sit there for many years. My poor US coins I haven't even looked at in maybe 15-20 years, but refuse to get rid of them.

Glad to hear you are ok TIF and that you moved your collection successfully!

I am really glad I moved 7 miles farther inland last year. I could hear the waves on the beach from my old place. Good luck to everyone in Florida, seems we will need it. :arghh:

Finders keepers if they blow onto my lawn :p I myself had three separate coin packages that all arrived on Monday and a fourth yesterday, so I’m glad I could have them just before the storm arrives, although of course getting prepared and staying safe is priority numero uno.

Thanks all for the well wishes and good luck to my fellow Floridians. I was initially not really worried since the track took it farther north into central FL and it seemed it would be a Cat 1, but now it might hit as a Cat 3 or 4 and the track has shifted somewhat more south, meaning closer to me.

Hope to hear good reports as soon as you all can once it’s passed. Heard it just made CAT2, I sure hope you all stay safe.

@TIF - hope your power gets back on.

To all Floridians, please stay safe and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

We went through Irma in SWFL in 2017 - she went right over our heads - that is not an experience I wish to repeat... This time it seems to be going in a more northerly course. Let us hope it will veer off further to the north and stay over water.

I'd be tempted to put in a mail hold. The coin in the upper right was headed my way when we evacuated for Ike in 2008. I asked the seller to hold shipping until we returned.

Thanks. That's a good idea. We'll see what the track looks like come Monday morning.

These wicked hurricanes would never come to an end. That's the negative outcome of " Climate Change". Ocean's temperatures are getting higher and higher every year. My modest prayers are with you. Just stay alive, please, to all my fellow coin- friends in Florida or elsewhere. I watched on CNN that the expected hurricane is the most wicked for decades. May God give you hope and patience. Sincerely..

@TIF glad that a power outage is your only problem, at least now damage this time round. Roll on December when you will have full time electricity.

I am about to go away for a week. no internet access, so just wanted to say to all those in the path of this hurricane, take care, take no chances, stay safe.
