    Hello everyone!

I wanted to start with a big thank you to everyone here! I've been lurking for a little bit and have found lots of great information here.

So here's my situation. My dad unfortunately passed last month and I've found what I think is a lot of coins. Mostly nickels and pennies. I've been doing a bunch of research about what to look for when going through these coins. I've just started this process and think I found some rolls of coins that might be worth investigating.

For example I've found some half rolls of pennies that seem like he marked the coin roll wrappers to stand out. I'm assuming since.these are not full rolls maybe they are harder to find coins. I've also found mutiple rolls of pennies marked bronze as well as rolls of wheat pennies.

I'm new to coin collecting and basically know nothing except for what I have learned in the past week or two researching online. Any advice would be very much appreciated!

I've been taking notes on what years and mint stamps to look for. I found the CoinFacts app which seems quite nice. I like that it shows you how rare coins are, how many have been graded, and the historical sales prices for the same coins.

Now to the picture I've posted. This is the first partial roll I've opened. Anything good? I guess I'm trying to figure out what to do with everything. I bought some coin collecting book and figure I can try to make some complete sets. If I find older coins that seem to have good stamps, good condition, key dates, or any errors I will try to pull those out to see if they are good enough quality to have them appraiser

Now to the picture I've posted. This is the first partial roll I've opened. Anything good?

Welcome to the neighborhood @ActionBronson !

    I'm sorry for your loss.

It doesn't do much good to post all those pennies together in one photo. There is no way anyone can examine each one. It is better if you post obverse & reverse images of each coin separately. Crop out any unnecessary background and resize each image before you post it.

I agree with Chris, though in this case nothing really sticks out to me from that picture. Not sure why those were kept separate.

    Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss and welcome to CT. I can see coins but it blurs when I enlarge so try what Chris suggested. We would love to help but we have to see the coins.

Welcome to CT. Sorry for your loss.

As mentioned by others, the pic you posted blurs out completely when enlarged. Cannot make out any details.

I upped the resolution on my camera, turned on HDR, only took a picture of one coin front and back.

Hopefully it's OK to post links to online photo albums. I didn't see anything about it in the rules and was thinking it might be better for my organization and for everyone to be able to zoom in.

I was hoping I could get a group shot of each roll with good enough quality to be able to zoom in and see enough detail such as dates. Then if anyone mentioned any key dates I could then get a shot of the back.

    Thanks again!
