What makes you feel it's extremely rare?

I was thinking the same thing. It just looks like an ordinary token to me? I have a lot of old tokens, and just because it is old, does not mean it is rare!

That reverse is extremely common on "Good For" tokens. It would be much more helpful if you would post the obverse.

The reverse does not match the description of the WHITE HOUSE SALOON (San Antonio, TX) in my copy of United States Trade Tokens 1866 - 1889 by Rulau.

Your token is damaged and is probably not worth very much, unless, of course, it is "extremely rare".

    Jon,

It is not listed in the Index but that does not necessarily mean it is not somewhere in the book. Plus, my copy of the book was copyrighted 1988; I'm sure many more tokens have been added to the list over the last 20 years.

    Jack,

You should like the book. Tokens are interesting. I had no idea how many different tokens there were until I bought the set of books by Rulau.

It's a neat find, but probably not worth much. Your next step could be to research the history of the area and learn a little about the business that issued it and what happened to them.
