Is this PCGS label rare or unique?

I haven't seen this label before on a PCGS coin. I don't buy coins for the lable, but this one just struck me as unusual. Does the surface of this coin look pretty roughed up or is it just me? He is asking $15.00 shipped. Any info? Thanks folks.

The holders without a grade (like this one) are usually bulk gradings done by dealers. They can request a minimum grade and anything under that grade will either be returned or can be slabbed in a holder that does not have a grade.

This specific Kennedy example is fairly common. There are a few sales on eBay for as low as $11. Based on prior sales, $10-$20 is the range these go for.

As for the “Gem Brilliant Uncirculated” that should typically mean the coin is at least an MS 65, but I’m not sure if that is the standard that was applied in this case.

Yes it does. I'm not impressed with that slab or the coin.

I haven't seen one yet but I heard TPG'ers (or one of them) will put your name on the slabs label if you request it, when you submit a coin for grading.

OK. Thanks. I think I am going to pass on this one. I'm still learning all the time even in my old age.

Yep. I get a good laugh out of the TV coin shows. Hard to understand why people pay the prices they ask for their coins. I like to watch for the fun of it. Fun to see them sell coins I paid $11.00 for and they want $50.00 for the same coin. But the real deal is when you buy 5, they ship free. Wow, what a bargain. LOL

Notice the label on the slab for the reverse side. It says collectors universe. Time to pass on this coin. You could do much better at your LCS.

They slabbed a ton of these, most without grades. The object was to offer low cost slabbed coins. Please note that PCGS is on the front but no grade was assigned. Don't let the name fool you!

Then they take them to a LCS and ask if they got a good deal.

It IS possible to get your name on the label, but they won't do it simply because you ask for it.

Then why will they do it?

Buy enough (bulk or premium) grading.

The new rarities holder (which can be purcha$$$ed as part of any tier) includes a line for the collection information.

I thought it has to be a large group of coins and you pay an extra fee.

That last would do it but is has to be a LARGE submission and I don't know how high the fee is. Another way is to have one of the top Registry sets.

I think pcgs has pictures of all their slabs on the website but I don't recall this one.

One lesson to learn is a simple one:
Buy the coin, not the slab.
