    I believe Edward is the Edward Longshanks popularized in the film Braveheart.

    Yes Ancient Coin Hunter, that is correct.
    I'm learning a lot about that time period, as my 19 G Grandfather was Robert Bruce, crowned King of Scotland in 1306.
    Oh, and the movie Braveheart was MOSTLY Hollywood fiction... but if they didn't enliven it a little, it would be somewhat boring... to most.

    Yes, a lot of things wrong with the movie but entertainment value is what they were shooting at. Nice to be related to Robert Bruce!!!

    Great find! I am so envious of detectorists who can access such history, esp. that of the British Isles.
    For the time being, finding the occasional silver dime or quarter here in New Jersey will have to be the way my skirt gets blown up! Cheers! montynj
