Seems to be a die clash.
    @paddyman98 should have a look.

Might want to save that puppy! I’ll bet @Fred Weinberg will respond when he gets on again. Larry

  5. My grandpa who died had a huge cup of wheaties. This was in there.... he only collected wheaties so he must have found this pretty cool to keep it. I'm very psyched about it. Hope it's the real thing!

Struck thru a late-stage thinning die cap.

  7. Is it of any value? Even if not it's pretty cool looking

My first thought was it's damaged. It's difficult to see in the photo but it looks like the letters are backwards. While it shows the columns raised, they are raised when they should be lowered and lowered when it should be raised. It also is in dented where the steps are. These are signs of a squeeze job otherwise known as a vice job. Put two coins together and tighten the vice and you get something similar to this.

Looking closer it appears to be some kind of minr error so wait for others to respond.

Yeah. I'm thinking maybe around $20-$30 but @paddyman98 or @JCro57 may know better.

  10. It looks kind the reverse went thru to the other side because is raised where the back not. Lines up perfectly

    I'd say it's a $50-$75 retail item.

I have a few that I have purchased for about $40.00 - $60.00 raw and upwards of $100.00 slabbed.

I got it from a guy on Criaglist really cheap -$40.00.. Old NGC holder. I had it re-slabbed!

I've found a few struck through late stage die caps in my searches but nothing as strong as yours @Victoria Littlefield :

  17. That and then there is Lincoln who is barely there. If someone was to squeeze two pennies together wouldn't it be not so perfectly aligned with the reverse and wouldn't Lincoln be more clear? Idk I never seen one of these coins in person.
Is it worth getting graded tho?

According to Fred that's a nice error. May I ask how you found it?

  19. My grandpa used to throw wheaties in a cup... it was in with those. My grandpa passed away a few years ago and my mom had them. She gave them to me because I got really into coin collecting. So he must have thought it was cool enough to keep because I'm not sure he knew anything about mint errors

You would send it to get attributed as a mint error. That's a different service from the grading company.
Costs a bit more than just grading. It's up to you but it is fine in the raw.. I send errors to get attributed because I am a error coin collector for the past 34 years so I once decided to make a huge presentable collection!

  21. Ok thank you for your help! I just started a few month ago getting into the errors. I always collected foreign coins but never knew about the mint errors until recently. Now I'm obsessed with this hobby. When I actually have some money I will get it attributed for my collection. I am excited I found it.
