If the damage or discoloration is on the slab, I am at MS 63. If the discoloration and damage were on the slab, one would assume at least the discoloration could/would be removed.

OP please verify condition in area of reverse rim between E and R of quarter.

Assuming the damage is on the slab, 63.

    That's not on the coin.

So the "damage" is on the holder. I grade the coin MS-64. The holder gets body-bagged.

I thought that by adding Details to your poll you were hinting to us some clue ;)

Its a little softly struck but I still think it has enough for a gem grade.

    MS65

Thanks for that info. I will stick with MS 63. Very nice coin.

I see a scratch on the slab but I also see a small die crack above the scratch. The gash at 6 o'clock on the reverse will give it a details grade. That gash looks to be on the coin and not the slab.

There is no gash at 6:00.

If you are looking at the thin vertical line up high on Miss Liberty, that is a normal element of the design.

Evidently I managed to get something on the holder before shooting the reverse photo, and that threw many of you off. My apologies . . . this is a nice coin all-around, with nary a meaningful mark.

It's actually really nice. The color and the surfaces say it's a quality coin for the grade.

I agree. The weak strike threw me off a little, to the point where I was searching for a reason to vote 58. But, I ultimately came back around to 64, with the only significant detractor being the weak date. I'm not used to seeing that much weakness at the date, even on 1917-1924 coin. Granted, I do not look at a ton of SLQ's, but that made it pretty challenging.

The grade appears fair and it’s a nice coin.
I realized one of the marks was on the slab but was almost certain the other was on the coin, which led to the details guess.
