I am new to coin collecting and gold coins in specific. What are some of the most plentiful, commonly available and easy to get gold coins of the world?

    Thanks

I'm sure there are a lorry load of Krugerrands around.

Also when british sovereigns were first minted they were done in the millions, and now in the 100s of thousands.

    EDIT:

I didn't mean first minted, I meant in the beginning of the 1900s.

Welcome to CoinTalk and again I would have to say I have no idea, a lot of the modern ones are mass produced :smile

I would say that the Krugerrand is probably one of the most plentiful and they are usually some of the cheaper coins as gold goes.

As a Canadian, honour dictates that I mention the highest quality gold coin of them all (.9999 pure) the gold Maple Leaf! ;)

    OT question...

The gold Buffalo coin is 9999 and so is the Maple Leaf yet one has a larger diameter that the other?

Does that mean one is thicker?
