Eh, maybe. I'm inclined to believe older coins found in circulation that are in cull condition like this are intentionally spent by dealers or collectors, or those who had them evaluated and were told what they have isn't worth much more than face value. Either way, old ones like this are cool to find when they turn up!
Sure - or more to the point it doesn't have the electro-mechanical signature of the two it will accept (copper and zlincon)...
Wow! Damaged or not, that's a pretty amazing find to be circulating in the 21st century! My Dad said he found some Flying Eagle cents in circulation when he was younger, but that was back in the 1950s.
Could be from the Great American Coin Hunt a couple of months back - many relatively low-value coins were injected back into circulation to attract attention.
Probably, wrong electromagnetic signature and way too heavy to be a cent as far as the machine is concerned.
