Help with a 32 quarter

Hi everyone, this is my first post on here. I inhairited some coins from my great granny and iam curious on this quarter could anyone by chance help me with it. Ive read stuff on the internet but id really appricate if others smarter then me could chip in a see if its worth sending it in. Thank you guys.

Welcome to Coin Talk Junior. This appears to be a nice original coin, in the fine to very fine grade and is currently between $90.00 & $100.00 in my current guide. If it were mine and it is not, it would be too costly to have it slabbed by itself. You need to consider the cost to ship, return shipping to you and the cost of grading by the TPG. If sending with other coins to help offset these costs then yes. If not then simply keep it well protected. JMHO.

Nice circulated coin with original skin. I'd leave it be. Don't send it in. I don't think the cost of grading justifies the worth. Just a humble opinion from a crackpot who only buys graded and never submits....

You could send it to ANACS and get it graded for $15 or so. The shipping would be pricey since they require Registered Mail for return.
That being said, it really isn't worth getting it slabbed.

I grade it at VF-25.
Marginal value for getting it slabbed.
If you want to preserve it in memory of your great granny then choose ANACS.

 

1932 was the first year of the Washington quarter; they only made 436,800 at the Denver Mint (only 408,000 in San Fran.). So, the "D" & "S" minted ones are 2 of the most valued in this series & authentic ones command nice premiums even in the condition yours is in. The problem is the fakes.

If it were mine, I would send it in. That will establish whether or not it is genuine & will preserve it, making it much easier to sell (in a slab), should you decide to do so.

If slabbed, I think it will bring in the $150 to $200 range, perhaps higher, depending on the grade. (Even if it grades VG, you're probably looking at a $100 coin, so you won't have much at risk.) Raw, not likely to be close to that because knowledgeable collectors will question its authenticity & try to beat you down.

I don't guess grades by pics, but I think you have a nice specimen. JMHO

 

1932 was the first year for the Washington quarter and in following years several changes to the reverse die were made. The only error listed for 1932 is a DDO with George's nose and ear showing some doubling, but I don't see that on your coin. It is a very nice, circulated first year Washington silver quarter. Nice heirloom to remind you of your great grandmother.

 

Yes I agree on VG. There's no way this coin is VF.
F-12 at the very maximum of drunken leniency.

 

I'm leaning toward a fine at this point with this set of pics. But I'm still the same on not sending it in to a TPG.

Its between V-VG. I would like to see the rim. I can easily tell thats its pretty worn out. Its still a nice silver quarter. Thanks for showing.

 

Way better than VG, I put it at F-12......and that ain't the booze talkin' folks.
