Anyone no about the 1994 d oversized penny

    I just found a penny that looks just like this. I think your statement that it has been altered post-strike misses the fact that the coin is ALSO LARGER than a normal penny. Add to this that there were pennies that did not have the copper plating. Mine feels like the weight of aluminum. I don't know how anyone can alter the coin post-strike and make the coin larger without seriously distorting it.

    It's been damaged. It's called a Texas cent.
    A cent is placed inside a leather belt and hammered with a rubber mallet.

    A regular penny has been made larger. I have a few of them. It's nothing.

    Yep Texas cent. Found mine last year searching nickel rolls. Didn’t have a clue either.

    They are easily altered/made larger diameter without distorting the image. By pounding as previously stated and it can be done with heat as well.

    I have a 1989 penny this is the second one I have heard of. I was curious myself.
