I am planning on sending a few coins into NGC this week. I have never sent a coin in to be graded so do you all think it is worth it for me to send this one in? I posted this coin a few weeks ago as my first pics taken with my new camera. The other coin I am sending in is the San Diego commem that I posted a thread about a few weeks ago as well. Comments please.

Uh Oh....The coin almost looks cast.....You will want to see what some of the more trained eyes here have to say on this one.

Good point!!! That 40 bucks I can buy more coins with! Well, I just wanted to get this one and maybe a few others graded. It's $16 for most coins plus shipping. I believe this is where is adds up.

As for the cast suggestion, I purchased this from my local coin shop which has been open since the 60's. I would be surprised if it got by them - but just another reason to have it authenticated.

Coin is definitely the real deal.. not worried there. Maybe an old light cleaning which is VERY common on CBH's. I bought a small hoard of 35 Capped halves last year.. sent about 30 of them in and 5 came back cleaned. These coins were never in a collectors hands until I got them.

Well now I am really discouraged. I called up NGC to find out about sending a bunch of coins in. One was the San Diego restruck mintmark (variety service), one was going to be a regrade of a previous NGC coin (reslab/regrade service), another one was going to be a cross-over to be graded from NGC from another company (cross over service) and that last dozen or so were raw coins (normal submission). Well, it turns out that I would have to send in each different type of submission seperately. 4 different packages, 4 different shipping costs - and get this - since there is a 5 coin minimum on the variety service, regrade service and cross-over service - and I only have one coin in each category, I will have to pay nearly double for the grading service. It would be nice to have some NGC graded coins, but that is too expensive for me. Just good to know that I have the membership if I ever do need to send one in.

splutter: you bought memebership from the ngc last i heard they would grade coins if you were a member of ebay(check onthat) or if you were a member of the ana (thats how i got my mohurs graded)

Wow. That grading sounds very expensive! I would just keep them raw personally.

From the images, the coin looks cleaned to me, and I believe there's a good chance it would be rejected/body-bagged.
