Mahnn its so cool to see that one of these bad boys survived all this time. Just out in the wild... crazy to see such crazy coins out in the wild until today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Confederate-Half-Dollar-1861/233251433683?hash=item364ede6cd3:g:zWgAAOSwaHtc~A7A
That coin is fake. It looks like it came from the Shanghai mint, or, at best, it's an older replica, likely from the 1960s.
0 feedback and lousy pics. As the man said: "Shanghai mint. If it's "sooo kool" buy it. Then you can turn it for a profit. LOL.
There are 4 known examples of this coin struck by the Confederacy, 500 restrikes from 1879, and a ton of Chinese fakes and replicas. There is no way this is a genuine coin.
Those pics are horrible, but to bid on such a coin, without proper confirmation, would be most assuredly a fools errand.
Some die characteristics of the originals on the shield are different on this one. This example matches modern replicas. They sell them here in Virginia at many historical sites.
