    Hi Everyone,
I'm brand new to the forum, and new to coin collecting. I've had this VERY slick coin for a long time now. I have no idea what it is, or even it is an American coin.. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot![IMG] [IMG]

    Hello Everyone,
I'm new to this forum, and to coin collecting in general. I've had this very slick coin for a while now and I'm wondering if anyone can help identify it. I really appreciate the help. Thanks![IMG] [IMG]

    Welcome to CT.

That looks like a medal/token commemorating the 1831 coronation of William IV and Adelaide the king and queen of England.

    Just a hunch ;)

yea, it look similar to that I don't see a III or IV after 'William' my guess is that there were many slightly different versions created. Its really cool just wish the obverse wasn't completely rubbed away. Thanks!

It is clearly William IV of England. His queen was Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen.

So it's British, and probably circa 1831, since that was their coronation date.

I suspect it's a coronation medal like the one @The Eidolon linked to, but it could also perhaps be a gaming counter. I suspect coronation medal, though. Particularly since you can see the word "JUNE" on the reverse.

It appears to be brass. Can't make out the reverse, but it's tantalizing, with those few ghostly details.

This was probably a watch chain or jewelry piece, considering the amount of wear.

I suspect the monetary value would be very modest, but I don't know, obviously.

Though likely not worth much as-is, it is an interesting piece.

Tsk, tsk. I merged your duplicate threads. One thread per topic, pretty please. ;)

I believe that the reverse inscription is similar to:
ASCENDED THE THRONE JUNE 26 1830

    :)

Yes! I'm not worried about the monitary value of this... but i love history and those "Tantalizing Details" are exactly what I'm interested in lol. Thanks for the input!
