I picked up this amongst a bunch of modern Austrian coins. Can anyone tell me more about it? It is dated 1963 and commemorates events of 1642. I think it is silver and it measures about 27mm across. Thanks.
Pretty sure that is a restrike of a 1642 2 Ducat piece. https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/austria-2-ducat-x-m29a-1963-1642-cuid-1056987-duid-1234902
That certainly seems to be the thing! Thanks for that. Anyone any idea how scarce/common these are? I can find none on Ebay past or present.
Not idea, really. I picked up a random one in a batch of world coins and put on eBay for a low start price. It ended up going for just about $20 plus shipping (about 3 years ago). There are a bunch on ma-shops.com right now...
