And you’re right, i can’t think of any other explanation than it being an error. Doesn’t look like PMD to me, nor general deterioration over the years, nor plating blisters or anything I’ve heard mentioned before. Furthermore, it doesn’t appear on Wexlers. But I spent a lot of today going over all my 1974 pennies just because I’m off and was bored so I chose that random year, and besides a few particularly nice specimens, I found nothing until I got to the very last one, which is this one. So at the risk of riling you guys up with my ignorance, I’m at your mercy... be gentle.
What are you even trying to show with your pictures? All I see is blurry photos with no description of what you think you are seeing.
"I know what you’re thinking!!" Oh no you don't! And I can't tell you because of the risk of a temporary or permanent ban.
Maybe someone made one die with the image of Lincoln's evil twin, used it once, let the coin into the wild, and now you have found it. Was that what you knew I was thinking? If it was, then you were correct.
I see general circulation ware and rare, at least three rim hits which would be PMD and on the reverse several dark stains. To me this coin is worth one cent.
Sorry, we get soooooooooooooo many messages here from people who have found something in their change and they just post a picture and ask "What's this" that it gets frustrating. If you say what you see, "I think this is a doubled ear" "I think this is a strike through" etc. it makes it easier to respond.
