I was looking through rolls of Morgans that I had stashed away a couple of years ago and I came across this one.I don't remember ever seeing this coin before but it was in one of the rolls so at one point I must have seen it. Guess it just didn't register. After really looking at it ,it sure looks "different". The weight on my gram scale says it's 26.21. That is what's throwing me. It's within tolerance but the reverse is questionable at best. Maybe slot machine damage ?? I'm at a loss on this one so any opinions or guesses would be appreciated. Thanks, John

    Very interesting, but weird.

Looking just at the obverse, I would have thought the coin was OK. The reverse looks bad/wrong, though. Maybe it is due to damage and an odd wear pattern, but it sure looks off.

IF it's legit, the wear pattern could be because it was a jewelry item.
In a belt buckle with an open back?
    Something like that.
    That's my best guess.

That reverse looks like it sat stacked beside a smaller coin, like a half dollar for a long time. The wear pattern looks circular to me.

to me the wear looks contrived, especially on the reverse.

Looks fake to me, but I could be wrong. Could you take a pic of the rim by any chance?

    Phoenix
