Lower grade like that one are only worth a few cents. Higher grade coins of course go for more, but they are easily available.
War cents are a unique and interesting area of coin collecting. They are plentiful though and inexpensive.
They are asking ridiculous money. There are also EBay ads for common state quarters at $400.00..... These people are hoping for a person that has more cash than brain cells. Worse than that.... They give a great hobby a black eye.
A few months ago I went to my local coin shop. He had a small box full of nothing but 43 steel Cents. After about three handfuls I had four sets including the D and S mintmarks. The cost for each cent was seventeen cents.
I forgot to add that I purchased the 3 set, all mints, newly reprocessed and raw original with no rust. In all I bought 6 sets. He only charged me $3.00 total.
I came across an rancid, postulant, abundance of these when I was a kid. Thank goodness for the folks that preserved them.......
Well there is always "condition rarity" in which you have a common coin in uncommon condition. This is one of my steel cents, paid less that $1 and it is not slabbed. But other than a couple of stains, one nick on the obverse rim at 8 o'clock and 1 hit on the T in cent on the reverse, pretty decent shape.
