Finally some correctly spelled the word shiney! No wait.. Still wrong.. It's actually Shiny Good job! Nice Cent. But.. I wouldn't call it pristine. And no way to tell if it has any kind of doubling. You would need to post pictures for that attribution.
.50- $1 if it hasn't been cleaned. (retail) They made over 300 million in Philly in 1939. Maybe it was a Great American Coin Hunt find.
My cent collection is in another room, but just guessing, the '39 I pulled from circulation to put in my Whitman book when I was a kid sixty years ago doesn't look that good. So, @l.cutler , if you have one that looks like the OP's that you'll let go of for a quarter, please send it along.
@Schonhans you mentioned in your feature length that in your opinion that cent is a MS65. I don't even see MS in that coin. I'm thinking you could see 50-55. Very nice circulated '39 though.
The reverse is AU, but the reverse is the stronger side. There is luster. Not an MS coin. But I could see low AU. 53 ish.
You need to wear white cotton gloves when handling coins. Also, you need better magnification to see doubling...and check Wexler to see if it is listed there...Spark
The b looks like an S in liberty and there is a circular anomalie just north of liberty. What could those be?
I don’t see anything abnormal with the B/LIBERTY, and no clue what the circular device is. I think I see doubling of the vest next to the date, still, it is a minor type...have you checked Wexler or VV? The coin has coin roll wear/abrasion on the ear, cheek, jaw and bowtie, is AU58 Red Brown. A very nice condition for 1939...good lookin’ coin...Spark
Hey, thank you for your response! It jumped out at me and I had to see what it was. AU58 red brown. Ok, let me go look ....
