1974 Nickel error coin

    could anyone advise on this coin. Please see the ear. It looks like a feather like imprint over the die. Thanks for your help. Mary.

    Hi Mary. Welcome to CT. Your coin has been damaged. How? Who knows for sure, besides the person who did it. But your coin definitely did not come from the mint like that.

    Do you know how a imprint over the ear could have happened post mint? Also see the blob over the right side collar. I am thinking a double strike of another coin overlay. Just guessing. Thanks for everyone’s input and warm welcome.

    It isn't an imprint. Something gouged into your coin and displaced the metal.
