I just got in a couple of hours ago and have had a chance to scan a couple of my purchases from the coin show in PA. One paper dealer pretty much drained me dry, but I believe I got some really good deals. One of the things he carried was alot of error notes. My son was looking at them and he knocked off half the asking price on the note below. My scan is cut off on one side on the front...sorry about that. Plus he had the fraction hid away until I asked about it....got that at a discount also. (The fractional looks alot better in hand).
And Last but not least Here are two notes I could not resist. He showed me the $1 Silver Certificate Horse Blanket and I was sold. Plus here is one for you RickieB....$20 1934-A FRN NY District note, probably UNC at least. Enjoy....I will have others to post later when I get a chance.....
Nice $2 notes Smaugy.... The Fractional is the 50 cent 5th Issue Known as the Bob Hope Note....looks like a water stain at the bottom right..I would say XF in Grade..mind me asking what you paid for it? I collect the 4th and 5th Issue Fractionals (only 2 more to finish it) and soon hope to start with the 3rd Issue as well... Nice NY Note..LOL I have that one as well...nice job!! The HB is nice as well....looks AU to Unc..I would guess 75-100 USD (just looked at the larger image), left side fold makes it an XF...55-70 ?? Just a guess..LOL Hard to tell from the scan..but is it a classic 3 fold? Light in the center and right and more pronounced on the left? I can see it better on the reverse.. Nice buy's RickieB
Hey Smaugy.. try and find the 1934A New York Note Star in anything other than XF...it took me years to find one and that was the best I could do grade wise!! Hard note to locate! RickieB
Hrm....will have to set that as a goal for the near future. Who knows what I might just be able to find.....or not! We will see......
Unfortunately yes, the HB is a 3 fold....XF. Still the nicest large size note I currently own. In the ball park on the price, I was a bit over....but made up for it on the other notes.
See how nice an easy it is to slip that ole hook in the mouth,,, Got ya!! Just got to love those older Small Size Notes in CHCU!! That one is a beauty..if I did not have it already..I would be beggin Smaugy to sell it to me...LOL So Dagger...does this mean you may start something like this as well?? Chicago maybe?? Give Spock1 some competition?? RickieB
no at all mate i like to collect by series .. meanign all districts I couldnt bring myself to be prejudicial to the other disctricts by focusing on just one I got on my list of things to do, to by full district sets in Gem Choice of all the series of small sized $1 notes ... i got a couple, but need alot thatis on my list along with a billion other notes and coins lol it will be a life long journey
Now you have me really jealous of you, Rickie! As far as I'm concerned The Berkshires rival the Rockies and Sierra Nevada areas for beauty. We used to have a place in North Adams when my wife worked in Williamstown. There was NOTHING so beautiful as getting off the Amtrak in Albany and driving across the mountains into MA. I miss driving up Florida Mt. in the snow. sorry to get off topic....the nostalgia switch got tripped.
I found someone that had the 1934-A NY District Star note in CHCU. His asking price made me pass on it for now. I have a budget for notes, but not quite that large. If I had bought it, that would have been it for a couple of months. Well I will keep looking, might be able to find something a bit more affordable in a lower grade for now.
