    Even if we assume the actions of a miscreant deserving of punishment, the question is not about him, but about the unexplained disappearance of the entire thread, including the work of supporting members who have a financial interest in the success of the list. It seems draconian to destroy their contributions to the topic without so much as an "excuse me, we have to do this." I would like to see some attempt to salvage the topic as it was developing, minus the offending elements.

    I [Susqu] was banned for no reason! No warning, nothing!

    Please let me know what I did wrong...all I did was make few posts about some of my coins. No arguments, insults, etc. What the hell?

    Moderator? Please explain what you think I did wrong. Thanks.

    That is understandable. But I [Susqu] never did that! When I signed up the other day and made those few posts about my new coins, that was the first time I have ever been here. This is really strange. I am hoping the moderator here will let me know WHY I was banned. Thanks.

    I appreciate your view on the loss of the threads. But equally wrong, IMHO, is to ban me for no reason. No warning, no explanation.

    @Denarius
    I don't know that any of us is in a position to say what prompted your removal specifically, but I do have some direct experience with the delicacy of the problem. If you have not become thoroughly familiar with the rules for participation on the list, then you are wide open for being blindsided by a terminal action. So, how well do you understand and recall the rules? I ask this based on my own hard experience. I was banned for a while elsewhere because I had put in a post a link to a page which sold a device I thought would be useful to the person asking a particular question. But it turns out the seller at that page did not have a reciprocal agreement with the list owner. Here's the thing, that type of link has a particular name with which I am still not familiar, but which was explicitly forbidden to embed in posts to the lists. It jeopardized the list owner's income stream and was met with an immediate response. Without warning I was chopped off. A list is private property and the owner is within the law to do that.

    I don't know the specifics of your case and can't help you sort it out, but comb through the posted rules to see what you may have done, knowingly or not. Meanwhile we all want to discuss the campgates. Now where were we?

    Hello. Thank you for sharing your experience. I will read through the rules again. But for the record, all I did was post a few pictures of my new collection. I posted no links to other websites. I did not use profanity, call any one names - that is just not me at all.

    I just can't imagine what the problem is. I am shocked that, since anything I did wrong must have been trivial, I would be banned and not get a warning: "hey new guy, please don't do ___".

    I would like to stay here because I can see that I could learn A LOT from everyone.

    Cheers

    Thread is closed until administration can look at it'

    Suque DO NOT POST IN ANY OTHER THREADS UNTIL RESOLVED, USING A ALTERNATE ID IS A REASON FOR BANNING.

    This response is for everybody but it has to do with the question asked above.

    CT policy is and always has been that we will not publicly discuss specific moderator actions. But I can speak about things in general terms. Yes, sometimes threads are removed. Other times only a specific post or posts is removed. But neither is ever done without good reason. But no, we will not talk or discuss what that reason is for any specific case.

    As for the question of why remove an entire thread as opposed to just a few posts in that thread ? Well, which is done depends the situation at hand. If a few specific posts can be removed and still maintain some continuity of the thread - then only specific posts are removed. But when some posts are quoting other posts that were removed, and text in the post is referring to the post that were removed - well it becomes all but impossible to leave them and have them make any sense. So those posts have to go too. And when ya end up with only 2 maybe 3 posts that can be left as is - and the thread makes no sense at all because everything is missing - about the only choice left make is that the entire thread be removed. And when that is the case that is what happens. And it's almost always done by me - not one of the mods.

    That's about the best explanation I can give you.

    Doug
