I never got excited about making the 8-ball on the break. I always preferred to break and run out. There is nothing more demoralizing to your opponent when you don't allow him to get a shot. I remember once when our VNEA league staged the "Captains Cup" sponsored by the Seminole Indians in 2005. The captain of each team was allowed to name another team member to play to represent his team. I should add that the Seminole team was stacked with gamblers and even one pro player who at that time was ranked #7 in the world. The Seminoles hated to lose at anything. As it turned out, the player selected by the Seminoles was determined to be ineligible because he hadn't played enough weeks. So, I suggested that they let the pro on their team play instead. Everyone agreed. I ended up playing him twice. I knocked him out of the winner's bracket and then beat him again in the semi-finals. After the awards presentation which included $500 and a very nice jacket, I overheard one of the Seminole Indians say, "You let Chris beat you?" to which he replied, "What could I do? I didn't get a shot!" I love pool! Chris
"Couple more years and they could be doing 6 finishes." And now that they are talking about doing colorized, we can have colorized versions of all six finishes. Twelve different versions of each coin each year!!
