not a coin how? 1) No denomination. 2) no coin was ever issued with a gem [or whatever that is] in it. 3) No country, no words, etc. nope, not a coin
how do they make it look ancient? it looks like there is dirt on it that sticked to it over the ages. if it was an imitation of another coin would you still be able to tell that it's fake? what if it isnt fake.. but i do believe you.
you mean there must be a writing or a magistrate's name on it by denomination? or the guy in observer side is someone who doesnt exist in history ? ive seen some coins where there is no writing.. I am willing to learn. the thing in the back may be the worse tho I know
In a highly scientific study recently published they found that 10 of 10 items purported to be ancients showing bare feet in the picture where found to be fake. That said, where did you "find" this jewelry that you know so little about?
This doesn't look like a coin, but the one with the pink stone is a gem (google for "roman gem" for similar examples. Imho, it looks like real gold. How did the person that gave it to you found / acquired these? If real, there may be significant value to it. However, if the background is sketchy, it may prove dificult to sell it the normal way.
well thats through digging. but you never know, cuz I wasnt there. I am willing to sell them and I am willing to learn the best techniques on identifying what's real and not. What you mean by real is it being ancient, yes?
https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=324661 https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=83511 This post is hilarious. Yes, the items are fake but the details are really wrong. There are many coins with no legends. We have a term for it: anepigraphic. Coins with the same design incuse on the reverse are called brockage errors. I have never seen a gold anepigraphic brockage of a relative of one of the Ptolemies. The style here is wrong but I suspect it was trying to copy a coin of Berenike or another Ptolemaic queen. https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=22528 Perhaps Hera? https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=83511 There are many coins showing bare feet. There are a few where the main type is a bare foot. https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=324661 We once had a member here who showed his bronze on Coin Talk but he was kicked off the board so we can't ask him to post it. You might search and find it. I have no idea if the engraved gem is genuine or not. I do not study/collect these. There are many that look superficially like the one you show. Many have been remounted in modern mounts. I believe it is safe to say your mount is modern. I don't know about the stone. https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=324661 'I don't know' is a common answer from people who know enough to know they don't know everything. I don't collect gold, jewlery, Ptolemaic Queens or intaglio gems. Believe whomever you wish.
I was teasing. In the first picture you can see someone's bare foot under the dirty glass table that the fake ancients that you have offered to sell us are placed. The joke being that no one with real gold ancients is going to take a picture with their bare foot being visible through a dirty glass table in the background. Please don't offer to sell fakes here or anywhere. Especially if you claim to not know authenticity.
So If i get a real gold ancient and take a pic with my bare foot you'll call it fake ? I dont offer anything. I am just here to learn to make a move. Thanks for helping me out.
