Hey everyone, I was going back through my steel penny's and found what looks to be a raised P mark on the side of the coin. Please take a look and let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks
Welcome to the neighborhood, Sylvia! Unfortunately, there is no cure for the affliction you have. It is called "pareidolia". It is very common among coin collectors. Chris
My thoughts? I think you're saying that "tongue in Cheek"! ...it's nothing, but keep up the good hunt!
I'm from Pennsylvania. I thought the papers from Pittsburgh or maybe it's Philadelphia. At my age I get confused easy. Well it's either age or the medication I'm on. lol
Welcome to CT. Yes I can see a P so it's not your eyesight. But the straight stem of the P is bright in color and the curved portion of the P is dark. It's not raised and it did not come from the vet with that it's just the way the coin has been handled and the toning it's been through. It's worth face value.
Yep, pareidolia. We all get it and it is usually a good think to have an imagination to see things, except in coin collecting. LOL Welcome to the group.
